# Kindness at Christmas

**The RSPCA appealing for kindness this Christmas, to help the thousands of animals who are facing neglect and cruelty over the festive season.**

While for many, Christmas is a time to celebrate kindness to our friends, family and pets – the RSPCA inspectors are braced to see [some of the worst acts of cruelty to animals](https://www.rspca.org.uk/whatwedo/latest/details/-/articleName/2017_11_22_KindnessAtChristmas) over the long winter nights.

So this year, they're asking animal lovers across the UK to promote kindness at Christmas by helping them feed at least one of the rescued animals in their care.

## Kindness has the power to transform an animal’s life.

It’s kindness that helps a nervous dog learn to trust again. And it’s kindness that soothes a horse on their first day in care, frees a frightened deer who’s become tangled in netting, or finds a new family for a cat after they've been out in the cold.

Your act of kindness in buying a meal for a rescued animal can have an incredible effect.

Below, read the real-life stories of some of the animals whose lives have been changed by simple acts of kindness.
