# History of the Horse: Their Evolution Story

Earth has been lucky enough to have enough horses for **over 50 million years!** They originated in North America, spreading to Asia and Europe. They became extinct in North America around 10,000 years ago but were reintroduced in the 16th century. There was a lot of extinctions in North America, Horses survived by crossing the Bering Land Bridge once connecting Alaska and Siberia, enabling them to cross into Asia spreading West.
