ICE-VIBE boots are a portable massage boot with hot/cold inserts to create warm or cold circulation treatments that can be used before or after exercise or during rehabilitation. By using the ICE-VIBE boots regularly you can stimulate the blood flow to your horse's legs whilst they are standing in a stable.
How do I put them on?
Wrap it around the horse's leg, with the velcro going to the back of the horse like you would with a normal boot. The boot comes with 1 massage panel (don't put more than 1 panel on, less is more) There are different pockets in case you need to avoid a certain area if your horse has had a neck problem or has a skin problem on a certain part, it's a good idea to use the panel against the shin but majority of the time, you're going to use it in the second pocket from the left which goes down the back of the tendon. Wrap it around your horse's leg, securing it with the velcro straps.
When you start, Horseware recommends you start on setting one with the cold packs. This is because a massage is a form of exercise on the horse's leg and it’s important for the horse to get used to it.
Hold the button down for 3 seconds(you may need to charge your boots when you first get them)
Changing the settings
Your main setting will be number 2, simply press the button once again and it will change the setting. When on setting 1 the boots will automatically turn off after 10 minutes. 20 minutes for setting 2. The third setting also runs for 20 minutes however, it’s much stronger and designed for horses, particularly for horses with hind legs with a lot of windgalls or scar tissue that need a slightly stronger massage so setting 3 for big-boned horses.
Never use your cold packs without the massage with it as we don’t want to make the legs too cold. We are trying to reduce inflammation, it’s all about repair and circulation.
How to charge your massage panels
The USB point is at the top of the panel, it comes with a charger that has different adapters for different parts of the world, simply plug your charger in and charge your panel for 4 hours. It is really important with lithium-ion that you don’t leave them uncharged or unused for really long periods of time. So, if you aren’t going to be using your boots for six to eight weeks, try and take them out and change them to four hours during that block of time so the battery doesn’t get so low that it can’t recharge it’s important to know.
If you have any queries, doubts, or issues, always consult your veterinarian, and discuss it with them before using the boot.
