Here at PetnPony, nothing is better than an organic review: where someone buys a product and they can review as it's been used because it was truthfully wanted. Here;s my review on the Paw butter we sell here in store 😁.
About two weeks ago now, I bought the I ♥ Pethead: Oatmeal Paw Butter for my two poochies, Kenzi (left) and Pedro (right). They love their walkies and love to play fight wherever they are, So its safe to say their paws get roughed up quite a bit, but especially during summer when the pavement is warmer and drier. so their paws were cracked and dry and i'd seen the paw butter in store and thought,i'll give this a go.
I applied the Paw butter every night to every single paw before bed which, with two very flighty shih tzus, is difficult as they just do not like their paws touched. However I persevered and managed to get the paw butter applied. I checked their paws as soon as i woke up the next morning and was amazed to find that their paws already felt softer. The cracks were less visible but there was still an element of dryness there, which was to be expected considering i'd only put it on once.
What i found really good about the butter, is it was gentle to Kenzi's sensitive skin. She's three but her paws never turned black or became as hard as Pedro's had. This meant her paws are more sensitive to warm pavements, however with the paw butter we has no issue walking her if the pavement was slightly warmer than usual. We just applied the butter before her walk and when we checked her paws their was no sign of redness. In fact after a walk over grass, gravel and pavement they still had a layer of paw butter on their paws.
Also I always get worried when applying creams and such to my dog as they lick it off instantly, however the paw butter is safe if ingested (though not recommended) and it stayed on even after Pedro tried to lick it off. And it definitely didn't affect the way they played!
I think the only real downside to the paw butter, that I found anyways, was it can be quite sticky if its warm, we just wore gloves and this solved this issue instantly. The dog's didn't seem to be bothered by the stickiness and it was easy to apply sticky or not.
So now i have been applying the paw butter for two weeks in total and their paws have improved drastically. They began being rough, dry and cracked and ended up like little puppy paws once more. I would highly recommend this product for any dog especially if they enjoy their walkies as it's good for protection as well as healing. After 30 mins of trying to take a picture, i finally was able to get a final result picture of their soft paws:
